MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM

In just the past decade, recent advancements in the field of sport science have created a massive performance advantage far greater than imagined. PRECISION is the first and only to make this new generation of sport science methodology available to the child-athlete specifically in the San Francisco Bay Area. PRECISION care’s as much about its middle school athletes achieving long healthy careers and maximizing sports performance as we do about professional and Olympic athletes. Thus PRECISION’s detailed middle school training approach is based on the tenants of:

  • Child Well-being & Character Development
  • Pediatric Exercise Science & Long Term Athletic Development Model
  • Injury Prevention & Reduction

For the child student-athlete, puberty status and physical maturity are large determinants of sports performance. Not all children have the same body or the same response to physical training and children are not “mini-adults”. They are unique organisms that require individualized training prescriptions and progressions as we prepare them for competing in high school varsity sports. As their body matures and enters adolescents their individualized program shifts to reflect the needs of their unique growth and sport of choice. This solidifies the fundamentals of athleticism and future success as a high school varsity athlete. The following components are potential items featured in a middle school athlete’s program design depending on the athlete’s biological age, sport, position, stage of puberty, and any training background he/she may have:

  • Injury prevention protocols
  • Corrective flexibility/mobility exercise
  • Speed/power training
  • Agility/change of direction mechanics
  • Acceleration/deceleration gait mechanics
  • Sport-specific conditioning
  • Fundamental motor skills (balance, cutting, shuffling, crossover, etc.)
  • Core stability training
  • Strength training (bodyweight only or weight depending on growth stage)

Sessions are 75 minutes 1-2x per week year round.
